Gopal Dagnogo was born in 1973 à Abidjan, in Côte d’Ivoire. He was initiated to art very early on by his mother, a professor at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Abidjan. After he obtained his baccalauréat in Arts Plastiques in France, Gopal Dagnogo decided in 1997 to settle in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso, to experiment with traditional techniques of bronze work. He returned to France in 2000. His work currently figures in many galleries throughout Europe, particularly in Espagne, in Germany, in Switzerland and in France. Gopal’s first suggestion for this poster was very Aubrey Beardsley and just a little stark. Fortunately, he also had a gorgeous little design of cave men with glasses and bush animals in egg tempura, which I really loved. I proposed to assemble the two, in what I thought would be a delightful community of spirit. Despite Gopal’s extreme scepticism, after a healthy dose of negotiation we reached the result you see before you. Ma foi pas trop mal !
