This poster is the first of the two created by Lyu Hanabusa for Wili’s Wine Bar. When asked in 1993 by Mark Williamson to create a photographic image in relation to wine joys, the beautifully-minded Hanabusa wanted to create a strong, lasting and fantastical response to the pleasures of wine, in sympathy with the series. The result was this elegant and eloquent homage to Man Ray. Lyu Hanabusa was born in Osaka, Japan, and has published a wide variety of works including nude photography, collaborative works with novelists, travel and landscape photography, as well as many, many portraits, among others of Simone de Beauvoir, Agnès Varda, Julie Delpy and singers Françoise Hardy, Dalida and Barbara to name but a few.
